The Work
Some commissions are defined by a single element: a curved staircase, a book-matched veneered wall, a hand-cut dovetailed cabinet. These are the projects we take on when the detail itself is the reason for the commission.
They usually begin with a drawing or a photograph and a conversation about what is possible. From there we make samples — a veneer layout, a moulding profile, a finish panel — so you can see and feel the material before it is committed to.
Work of this kind takes time, and we take on only a handful each year. In return you get a piece made specifically for the space it occupies, which could not be bought ready-made.

Do you make one-off furniture as well as fitted work?
Both. Some commissions are freestanding pieces, others are built into the fabric of the house. The approach is the same: made to order for that specific place.
Can you restore or copy an existing piece?
Restoration of existing pieces is part of the scope, including matching profiles, timbers and finishes where something has been lost or damaged.
